Meet Dr. Angela Velasquez, DDS one of Nuvia’s experienced Restorative Doctors at the Austin, TX

About
Dr. Angela Velasquez is a restorative dentist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Austin, TX. She started her dental career in Colombia, where she trained as a general dentist. After moving to the U.S., she completed her prosthodontic training at the University of Minnesota. She has worked in dentistry since 2007, including time as a dental assistant and lab tech before becoming a restorative dentist.
She knew early on that dentistry was the path for her. As a kid, she kept saying she wanted to be a dentist, even though no one in her family worked in healthcare. She started assisting to test it out and stuck with it.
Dr. Velasquez loves that at Nuvia she is able to work on full-arch cases every day. She also likes the teeth in 24 hours process. She has seen what happens when patients are in temporary teeth—things break, and it can get frustrating. At Nuvia, patients leave with a final set right away.
Her experience working with zirconia is also why she prefers it over acrylic plastics. It has been proven to be much stronger and doesn’t stain as easily.
For patients that are nervous, she understands. She knows full mouth dental implants can be a big step. Her focus is making sure you feel comfortable and know what to expect before anything starts.
Outside of work, she stays active. She enjoys working out, hiking, biking, and playing tennis. She also likes to cook and travel, especially with her mom.

Our doctors are not just experts; they are visionaries in the field of dental implantology. With decades of surgical and restorative experience, and a passion for pioneering research, they are at the forefront of innovation.
Originally from Yakima, Washington, Dr. Matthew Krieger was inspired to pursue oral surgery while attending dental school. He has always been driven by the urge to help others and found that the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provided a way to comfortably and efficiently resolve patients’ dental and facial pain, as well as improve facial esthetics through procedures such as dental implant placement.
Dr. Krieger earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Whitworth College in 2006. He completed dental school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2011 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Following dental school, Dr. Krieger completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.
While Dr. Krieger has been practicing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery since 2015, he has been focused exclusively on the “All on 4” implant procedure since 2019. Dr. Krieger found a true passion for this surgery when he witnessed the life changing effect and profound impact the procedure can have on the health and emotional well being of patients. Dr. Krieger looks forward to delivering this exceptional oral surgery and dental implant care to patients in the Austin community.
Dr. Amireh Awad is a restorative dentist at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Austin, Texas. She has been in dentistry for 10 years, with the last eight years focused almost entirely on full-arch restorative care. Over that time, she has worked to fine-tune every detail of treatment so patients receive results that are both functional and life-changing.
Dr. Awad earned her dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, where she built a strong foundation in restorative care. What continues to motivate her is the impact this work has on patients’ lives—especially those who have struggled for years with confidence, function, or comfort.
The Nuvia team prioritizes doing things right the first time which is one reason Dr. Awad was drawn to it. Earlier in her career, she saw how often patients returned years later with broken or failing restorations that never should have been placed that way to begin with.
At Nuvia, the focus is on delivering a durable, high-quality prosthetic from day one. That approach reduces long-term problems and gives patients something they can truly rely on. For Dr. Awad, that commitment to quality—and the responsibility that comes with it—is what made Nuvia the right fit for her.
Outside of work, Dr. Awad is a busy mom of four and has been married for nearly 20 years. With children ranging from teenagers to toddlers, her life is full and fast-paced. When she finds time for herself, she prioritizes staying healthy through strength training and cardio so she can be fully present for both her family and her patients.
