Dr. Onyi Esonu, DDS - Oral Surgeon in Lemont

Dr. Murphy grew up in a small Canadian town next door to a dentist. This is where he first developed his interest in dentistry. He received his education in Halifax, Nova Scotia for his undergrad and dental degree. After moving around Canada for a couple of decades, he moved to the US and has lived there ever since.

‍

With years of restorative dentistry under his belt, Dr Murphy saw many patients undergo the traditional process of getting dental implants that could take up to 10+ months to complete. When he heard that Nuvia could provide permanent teeth in 24 hours to dental implant patients, he knew he had to be a part of it. He is excited to be part of the Nuvia Dental Implant Center team in Dublin, OH.

Outside of the Office

When Dr. Murphy isn’t working as a restorative dentist, he is a musician. In the 80s, he played in a distinguished band called “Men Without Hats”. He continues to play live music and record in his studio. Dr. Murphy also races road course cars. He loves spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.

Dr. Bryan VanOven is the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Chicago, bringing a wealth of experience to his work.

After years as an associate, he went on to own his own practice, eventually joining Nuvia in Chicago to focus on more complex cases. Dr. VanOven is passionate about helping patients who may have been told they have no other options, using the latest technology in dental implants to restore smiles and confidence.

Outside of his practice, Dr. VanOven enjoys spending quality time with his family. His two sons play hockey, and his daughter is passionate about volleyball, both sports he loves watching and occasionally joining in on.

A dedicated runner, Dr. VanOven also takes on a personal challenge each year, running at least one marathon annually since turning 40. 

Whether at home or in his career, Dr. VanOven is dedicated to giving his best, treating patients with the same level of care and commitment he brings to his family.

Dr. Onyi Esonu is the oral & maxillofacial surgeon at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Lemont, Illinois. She earned her dental degree in 2017 and completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2023.

‍

Her path into surgery was shaped by her family’s roots in Nigeria and her desire to help others have access to care. In Chicago, she has volunteered at community clinics that provide free comprehensive treatment for patients who might otherwise go without.

Away from surgery, Dr. Esonu likes pickleball, fitness classes with friends, and exploring Chicago’s museums, ballet, opera, and symphony. She’s also a plant lover (ask her about her easygoing ZZ plant and her “dramatic” houseplant that perks up the moment it’s watered).
