Meet Shu Elam, Nuvia’s CRNA and anesthesia provider at the Fremont, CA clinic.

About
Shu Elam is the CRNA and anesthesia provider at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Fremont, CA. Shu earned an undergraduate degree from Colorado with a background in nursing, then completed anesthesia training in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from anesthesia school in 2011 and brings 15 years of experience to the team.
Shu’s path into healthcare started as he was serving others. During undergrad, he ran a host home and adult foster care for people with disabilities—an experience that shaped a deep commitment to looking after others and led to a career built around caring for people in vulnerable moments.
For patients, meeting the person providing their anesthesia can be one of the more nerve-wracking parts of the day. Shu strives to treat each patient as he would if it was a loved one in the same seat.
Shu is proud to be part of Nuvia’s permanent teeth in 24 hours model, where a coordinated team makes a life-changing procedure feel structured, safe, and supportive. He often describes the work as routine but never mundane—never taken for granted, especially knowing many patients arrive with difficult dental experiences behind them. The goal is always to make the day as positive and easy on the patient as possible.
Outside of work, Shu stays active and enjoys cycling three to four days a week, riding motorcycles, and driving fast cars. On quieter days, woodworking is a favorite.

Our doctors are not just experts; they are visionaries in the field of dental implantology. With decades of surgical and restorative experience, and a passion for pioneering research, they are at the forefront of innovation.

Dr. Kevin Furmanek, DDS, MD is the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Nuvia Dental Implant Center in Fremont, CA.
He earned his dental and surgical training at Columbia University Medical Center, where he developed a strong interest in helping patients restore their health and confidence through surgical care. Dr. Furmanek has been practicing in California for the past five years, performing a wide range of oral surgery procedures with a focus on precision, comfort, and long-term results.
Dr. Furmanek joined Nuvia because he liked how everything here revolves around the patient. From the first visit to the final result, every step is designed to make the process smooth and predictable. He’s especially excited about Nuvia’s ability to give patients permanent teeth in 24 hours, helping people who walk in feeling uncertain to leave smiling again.
Dr. Furmanek wants patients to know he’ll be there from start to finish. He’s steady, focused, and committed to getting great results while keeping people comfortable and informed through every part of surgery.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Furmanek enjoys spending time with his three children. They love cooking together, movie nights, and trips to the skate park. When he’s not with his family, he’s often cycling—both road and mountain—and playing bass guitar or catching live music around the Bay Area.
Dr. Shrikar Mehta is one of Nuvia’s restorative dentists at the Fremont, CA Nuvia Dental Implant Center. Born and raised in western India, Dr. Mehta was inspired to pursue dentistry after watching his grandparents struggle for years without teeth and with dentures. That experience shaped his lifelong mission: to help others eat, smile, and live confidently again.
After moving to the U.S., Dr. Mehta earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from NYU College of Dentistry, followed by advanced residency training in prosthodontics — the specialty focused on restoring and replacing teeth. Since then, he has devoted his career to full-arch implant dentistry, helping patients reclaim both function and aesthetics through permanent implant restorations.
For Dr. Mehta, Nuvia represents the future of restorative care. He’s inspired by the company’s ability to deliver permanent zirconia teeth in just 24 hours, giving patients a brand-new, durable, and natural-looking smile in a single day.
Dr. Mehta believes dentistry is ultimately about human connection. “Here at Nuvia, you’ll be treated like family,” he says. “We take the time to get to know you, understand your needs, and make sure you feel completely comfortable throughout the process.”
When he’s not helping patients transform their smiles, Dr. Mehta enjoys spending time with his wife and their extended family. Together, they love trying new cuisines, discovering local restaurants, and spending weekends outdoors — whether hiking scenic trails or exploring new places surrounded by nature.
