What Are Permanent Artificial Teeth?
There are many options available to replace missing or failing teeth; however, not every option is a permanent solution.
For example, dentures need to be replaced every 5-10 years, sometimes more often to be refitted or repaired.
And although dentures are considered artificial teeth, they don’t come very close to the real thing.
On the other hand, permanent artificial teeth secured by dental implants are designed to last a lifetime with proper care.
Because they are fixed in the mouth and anchored into the jawbone, permanent teeth with dental implants provide an experience meant to resemble that of natural teeth.
Compared to temporary solutions that can continue to cost money for years and years to come, permanent artificial teeth are a cost-effective, long-term solution to restoring your smile and dental health.

Top 5 Recovery Tips
Getting permanent artificial teeth is an exciting and life-changing moment. However, it’s important to remember these 5 tips when recovering so you don't learn the hard way, like Ricky, what not to do.
#5 Don’t Start Moving Mountains
After your procedure, give yourself permission to rest. It’s tempting to jump back into your normal routine, but overdoing it can slow your recovery.
“In our everyday life, we have the kids, we have family, we have all kinds of things that are going on,” explains Ricky. But pushing too hard can cause complications.
“What that does, especially right after dental surgery, is it gets your heart pumping…which can affect how much your gums are gonna bleed.”
Instead, let others help with the heavy lifting, stay hydrated, and focus on relaxing. This small step can make a big difference in your dental implant recovery.
#4 Avoid Hot Foods and Drinks
After surgery, your gums will be healing, and the last thing you want is to burn yourself or make it difficult for clotting to happen.
“When you get out of surgery, you're gonna be numb. The numbness…goes away pretty fast. In between that time, don't be ordering hot tea or extra hot coffee,” warns Ricky.
Stick to warm or room-temperature drinks until you’re fully healed. Protecting your gums during this time will help prevent unnecessary discomfort or delays in healing.
#3 No Sucking or Spitting
Another thing that will disrupt clotting is sucking or spitting. These are some of the most important things to avoid after getting permanent artificial teeth.
“You’ve just had your teeth removed and implants put in. Your body’s healing,” Ricky explains. “That clot is critical for your healing…if it comes out, you’re looking at painful dry sockets.”
Avoid using straws, spitting, or anything that creates suction in your mouth. These small habits might feel harmless, but they can lead to serious complications.
#2 Hands (and Tongue) Off the Surgery Site
It’s natural to feel curious about the changes in your mouth, but resist the urge to touch the surgical site.
“Do not touch the spot where you just had surgery with your fingers, which have touched everything else, or with your tongue,” Ricky advises.
“Your tongue's gonna be going, ‘Hey, what's this in here?’ It wants to know. But do your best not to touch it…You don’t want to be doing things that’s gonna take it longer to heal.”
#1 Don’t Eat Whatever You Want—Yet
A huge perk of permanent artificial teeth as opposed to temporary teeth is that you get back the ability to eat whatever you want.
Although it’s exciting, there are some limitations during the initial months of healing.
Ricky visited 7 different dental implant offices before choosing Nuvia. He explains that some processes require patients to stay on a liquid only diet. “Most places you go to…you're gonna have to eat soup. Some kind of liquid diet, which doesn't sound like fun,”
You don’t have to endure a liquid only diet at Nuvia. As soon as you have your permanent teeth, you can enjoy anything you can cut with a plastic fork. Once healed, you can eat whatever you’d like.
So how soon do you get your permanent artificial teeth?
Permanent Teeth in 24 Hours
When you get dental implants the traditional way, it may take up to 10+ months before you have your permanent artificial teeth.
In between the time you get your dental implants and your permanent teeth, you’ll likely be given a temporary denture. These are not as comfortable as the ones you’ll have to wait for as they’re not custom designed for your mouth.
They also are made from acrylic plastics, which is not a very durable material so you may need to get it repaired.
This doesn’t have to be your experience. You can get your permanent, zirconia teeth at Nuvia in 24 hours.
You’ll come in for the procedure one morning, then return within 24 hours for your teeth that Nuvia’s in-house lab has created and completely customized to you.
